Judith MacKenzie McCuin: Spinning for Twinned Mittens

Saturday/Sunday, November 20 & 21,
10:00–4:30 each day
Bring your wheels and come learn about spinning particular fleece types and fleece parts used for twinned knitting.

Judith will teach techniques specific for this type of Norwegian knitting. You will go home with fleece and yarn to make a warm pair of twinned mittens for winter!

Class fee $110.00 includes fiber materials. Please bring Potluck snacks to go with sandwich makings provided by the shop.

 

Drop Spindle

Margaret Magic
One 2.5-hour class

Session 1: Friday, October 15, 3:00–5:30

Session 2: Thursday, November 11, 11:00–1:30

Margaret will teach you how to spin and ply on a drop spindle. Take a drop spindle with you anywhere and spin yarn for your knitting and weaving projects. Margaret loves to drop spindle anywhere at anytime, and will love to share her knowledge with you about top whorl spindling. See materials list in store.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN TAKING CLASSES AT NW HANDSPUN YARNS:
1.    Class fee must be paid in advance to register for classes, no later than 3 days prior to the start of the class. Cancellation of class by student must be prior to 3 days for refund. No refund for class if student cancelled within three days of the start of class.
2.    Minimum class enrollment : 3 students.
3.    Please arrive to class 10 minutes prior to the start of class, so class can begin on time.
4.    Materials list for the class will be provided to each student at the time of registration
5.    Please gather/purchase your materials ahead of class time.
6.    Classes are structured for: (b) beginner, (i) intermediate, (a) advanced

Beginning Spinning On a Spinning Wheel

Two 3-hour classes

Session 1: Sunday, October 10, 17, 11:30–2:30

Session 2: Sunday, November 7, 14, 11:30–2:30

For the very beginning spinner. You will make your own two and three ply yarn using wool roving. Yvonne is a wonderful enthusiastic spinner, and a great patient teacher to learn spinning from! Use your own wheel or arrange for the use of a shop wheel.

Materials fee to teacher: $20.00

Class fee $60.00 Skill level B
